It's Time to Walk the Plank!

The carpet tile has a new and improved (and slimmer) younger sister, the carpet plank, and I must say the carpet tile is quite jealous of all the attention she’s been getting. Demand for these 25x100cm carpet planks is on the rise and there seems to be no sign of it slowing down.

You won’t be surprised once you discover the long list of benefits including minimal waste when fitting and a soft underfoot texture. Luckily for you we have a vast range of carpet planks for you to shop; from simple carpet planks to biophiloic, design-led patterned planks.

I’m going to start off with the product everyone’s been talking about. Drumroll please… Wood-effect carpet planks. Carpet that looks like wood?! Yes indeed!

Hardwood flooring has always been, and probably always will be, considered classic and will withstand the test of time. However, it’s not always practical as it’s prone to scratching, can be slippery under foot as well as not being the best insulator when it comes to heat and sound.

The wood-effect carpet plank wipes out all of the above issues. When using carpet planks you are also able to rip up and replace singular planks without the fear of ruining your whole floor. How convenient? And as we hear so often convenience is always key!

Forbo Flotex Wood-effect carpet plank is a great product with a lovely aesthetic and comes in a variety of on-trend colours including silver wood and antique wood. However, here at DCTUK we have our own brand of sophisticated wood-effect carpet planks called Nouveau Vintage. They come with all the benefits of Forbo but at a fraction of the cost and what’s not to love about that?

Nearly as jaw-dropping as carpet that looks like wood is carpet that looks like concrete! Forbo have a stunning product, Forbo Flotex Concrete planks, that oozes fun and modernity without the harsh solid texture and cold touch of authentic concrete flooring.

Carpet planks can be laid in a variety of ways including herringbone, monolithic and brick which provides people with more versatility and flexibility than regular carpet tiles or hardwood floors. Wood-effect carpet planks look especially charming when laid in a herringbone or double herringbone pattern. It gives the same aesthetic as parquet flooring and parquet will always remain a timeless feature fit for any commercial or residential space.

Nouveau Endurance is our most popular carpet plank and for good reason. Endurance has a smart, linear pattern as well as many high performing properties such as fire resistance and Stainsafe materials. It also has a very similar aesthetic to Burmatex Tivoli and Modulyss First Absolute, two other extremely popular carpet plank ranges, but we are proud to say Nouveau Endurance comes at much better value.

Carpet planks provide people with the opportunity to be increasingly creative. You can mix and match various carpet plank products to create individual designs unique to that particular space. If you’re feeling a bit more daring you can even mix carpet planks with LVT which gives you’re home or commercial space that extra dash of stand-out imagination and style.
