Here at the DCTUK headquarters we LOVE Christmas. It's the most wonderful time of the year (according to Andy Williams). Unfortunately, not everyone gets to experience the magic of Christmas the way we do. This year we want to give back to those who aren't fortunate enough to have those magical memories (yet) and help contribute to a Christmas they won't forget!🎄 So, we took part in the Operation Christmas Child, Christmas Shoebox Appeal!
For those of you who haven't heard of Operation Christmas Child before, it started in the UK in 1990 thanks to Dave and Jill Cooke. They wanted to help Romanian children, who found themselves orphaned as a result of the Cold War, by giving them gifts inside shoeboxes. The gifts includes small toys, blankets and medical supplies. In 1993 they partnered up with the Samaritan's Purse and by 1995 it became an official project of the Samaritan's Purse.
This week is the National Drop-Off week for everyone who made a shoebox! So, from the 15th until the 22nd of November 2021 we'll be a collection point for people to bring their gift filled shoeboxes to send across the globe. All's you need to do is find a shoebox, fill it with toys🧸, school supplies📚, etc. pack it up and drop it off to us! If you're unable to get to the DCTUK headquarters and you're local (Liverpool postcode), get in contact with us and we'll get our DPD driver to collect your Christmas shoebox from your home🚚.
Here at DCTUK we've each made up are own box and, the lovely children over at Southport Royal Rangers Group dropped off 24 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child! The last day to drop a shoebox off is 22nd November! Make a child Christmas extra special this year, drop off your gift filled shoebox at DCTUK today!
