Formed towards the end of the 18th Century, Mann Island is a landmark cultural centre located in the dockside area of Liverpool. In recent years, it has been given a makeover to become one of Liverpool’s top-notch prime retail and commercial addresses. Nearby buildings include the world-famous Liver Buildings, the Museum of Liverpool, the new Beatles Museum and the Liverpool One Shopping Centre. This place is dripping with architectural delights!
With this in mind, DCTUK were jumping with excitement to be invited to work with Aztec Interiors on one of the newest buildings in the area – located directly next to the Museum of Liverpool and looking out towards the grand Port of Liverpool building.
The project at Mann Island required an experienced fit team from DCTUK to lay down the contemporary design involving carpet tiles and vinyl that the architects had specified for the floor. The space consisted of a large open space area featuring a bar, break-out spaces and work hubs, surrounded by meeting rooms and offices that look out onto Canning Dock and the River Mersey.
The carpet tiles would take some hammering over the course of their life in this busy building, so it was no surprise that we turned to the durable and aesthetically pleasing Desso Essence carpet tile to fit out the meeting rooms and meetings hubs. Over 1000m2 of carpet tiles were required, supplied in four different shades of grey, and laid out in a random block style that resulted in a unique lego-like design.
The walkways and eating areas were fitted out with Polysafe Arena – a heavy duty sheet vinyl with a concrete colour and design which completely suited the industrial look that the building provided. Finally, the project was finished with a selection of furniture pieces from Elite Office Furniture - the UK's leading office furniture supplier for commercial projects, which are available to buy online here at DCTUK.
DCTUK worked very closely with Aztec during all stages of the fit out to ensure that the works were completed on time and to a high standard.
