Interior design trends for Spring & Summer 2017

If you're sick to the back teeth of hearing about hygge, tripping over copper pineapples in the home decor section of your favourite shops or being told how great geometric interior design is, you'll be pleased to know Spring/Summer 2017 is all about change.

All things fancy and floral

Up until now it's been all about grungy industrial interiors with exposed brick and mean metalwork but this season those in the know are turning their heads towards all things floral. From big bold Africana wall prints and psychedelic fabrics to ditsy wallpapers and barely-there, rustic accents.

Think Ted Baker meets Laura Ashley and bluebellgray and you'll be sitting right on the forefront of interior fashion. So whether you want to go full throttle with overstated floral or just give your habitat a little taste of biophilia, this season's styles will have you covered.

A rumble in the jungle

If you're after something a little more sassy and exhilarating than sweet English farmhouse or indigenous African tribe then take floral fancies up a level by hopping onboard the jungle-chic bandwagon express.

Forget a walk in the woods, architects and designers are taking a trek through the tropical rainforest this season and they're bringing exciting new colours and exotic prints back with them.

Palm prints, faux-animal skins, feathers, pom poms, tassels and carnivalesque colourways are the perfect way to invite the elegance of a jungle king indoors without having to fear for your life every time you hear the twitch of a wiry whisker. It's also a great opportunity to incorporate Pantone's Colour of the Year, Greenery into your next interior overhaul.

Big, bold, bright colours

As I said, we're seeing a shift away from the moody colour palettes of Rough Luxe times gone by and instead, taking a trip down the other end of the spectrum to where candy stripes and rainbow hues are all the rage. Think Kate Spade goes to the circus and comes back with candyfloss in her hair and a sprinkle of gold for good measure.

Colour is always going to be something that us humans go all gooey eyed for so picking out your very own multicoloured flooring masterpiece could be the perfect investment. With our collection of colourful carpet tiles, it doesn't have to be too much of an investment either - not with our industry-leading discounts that's for sure.

A nostalgic nod to Art Deco

The modern world can be a little bit on the mad side so sometimes it's nice to escape to the cosy grips of nostalgia and I guess that's where a reemergence of Art Deco design has blossomed from.

To celebrate this era of timeless elegance and iconic decor, kit your home or workspace out with some plush velvets, dusty suedes, reflective surfaces, smooth shapes and enough brass accents and marble to make The Great Gatsby raise a glass to the sky.
