If you haven’t already seen from our Linkedin posts, the DCTUK office has had a bit of a makeover. We’ve transformed a standard warehouse office into a modern and fun space that’s beneficial to us and the way we work.
Why did we change the office?
If you think about it, we spend the majority of our adult lives at work (what a depressing thought) so we wanted to bring a little part of home into the workplace. It’s a lot easier to show up early and stay late when there is good coffee, good music, and interesting artwork to look at when your eyes feel like they’re turning into squares from staring at the screen. The goal was to cultivate a joyful environment without the beanbag chairs and table tennis.
We built an extra room for a breakout/kitchen area so Naomi no longer stinks up the office with her salmon salads, comfy chairs from Elite Furniture were incorporated into the design scheme and decorative accessories like vases and plants added that little homely touch.
What was our office before hand?
Just 2 small rooms with the kettle, microwave, and sink, plain grey carpet tiles and bare walls.
Why the photo of trees and Liverpool?
Why have a bare wall when you can fill it with amazing photography? Visitors will most certainly remember our office because of it too.
Why do you have a mini bar in your office?
On Friday afternoons we like a gin or beer to start the weekend off, cheers!
What are the benefits of the new layout?
We no longer eat at our desks which relieves eye strain, and the different sitting areas around the office allows us to move about which in turn boosts productivity.
What’s inspired the interior?
Our main inspiration is Biophilic design. No, it’s not a made up word, you can read what it is here.
