Three cheers for Pantone Colour of the Year

With the new year comes a ream of resolutions you'll probably abandon by the 1st of Feb and a head full of sparkling optimism for the year ahead. I mean, I'm promising to visit the gym at least 10 times a week and give the Victoria's Secret models a run for their money by March but I don't know about you... (just kidding).

One of the most exciting things about the new year for me though is finding out Pantone's 'Colour of the Year' and whether you think that's super geeky or not, I'm going to tell you all about it. First thing's first though - a big fat Happy New Year from everybody here at DCTUK. Yay!

The gorgeousness of Greenery

So we probably don't need to a drumroll to introduce the hue that has reigned victorious this time - the gorgeous, Greenery. Nature's neutral and a vibrant symbol of vitality, new beginnings and the pursuit of personal passions, according to those who know.

As they do every year, a secret meeting of colour standards representatives from around Europe have been getting together to suss the shades we've been going gaga for over the previous seasons. They pinpoint a very specific part of the spectrum according to cultural influences and social attitudes and this year, it goes by the name of Greenery.

When Pantone reveal their tone of choice, there is always a flurry of creations inspired by it that pop up in a whole host of sectors from fashion and cosmetics to travel and interior design. The latter is obviously the one we're most interested in so it's exciting to see how beautifully Greenery meshes with a worldwide desire to bring the outdoors in.

As you already know, biophilia and the use of natural elements in interior design are going to be big licks this year so why not take advantage of this a la mode palette and go green for your new flooring fit out?
