Pinks for days, greys for weeks

Here at DCTUK, we always love to catch up with the suppliers and manufacturers we work with on a regular basis and last week we had the lovely Rachel Wylde from Desso in for a cuppa. We got to chattin' about how the hospitality sector is being taken over by pinks and grey so I thought, I know - I'll whip up a little blog post for you lot because it's pretty popular in homes and offices too right now.

Then again, you probably don't me to tell you that pink and grey have definitely gone public about their blossoming romance, right? From high end to the highstreet, decor, furniture and all things interior design in between are picking from this picturesque palette so I'm just here to give you my pearls of wisdom on getting it just right.

Turn down the saturation on this one

So as you've most likely noticed when mooching around your favourite shops or on the old interweb, it's a very particular kind of pink that we're dealing with here. The grey shades are a lot more liberal - from moody charcoals to fresh silvers - but your pinks must be dusky, fashionably washed out and almost verging on the edge of nude.

Bypass those bright Barbie Pinks and bubblegums and steer well clear of anything deep magenta or fluorescent fuchsia. Think more along the lines of muted salmon pinks, antique-y powder pinks and mink pinks that'll make you wink for all the right reasons.

Doing it and doing it right

The trick to nailing this trend is to get the balance right depending on what type of space you're kitting out. It's definitely a must-have combo in the hospitality and home sectors where you're safe to tip the balance more towards the pink end of the spectrum. This will create a fresh, bright interior that simply oozes style and sophistication whilst still leaving room for a little fun and experimentation.

However the contemporary inseparability of pink and grey it is also getting creative juices flowing in the commercial, corporate and public realms too. I mean, can you blame them - it's a winning combination but I do recommend using tones of grey as your main backdrop here and accenting with touches of pink here and there.

Combine the look with come metallic features, industrial iron hardware or even some trend-savvy concrete to give a soft aesthetic an injection of attitude.
