Step into the future with this ground-breaking carpet tile. The new Desso Futurity collection is an ode to our beautiful earth and its precious resources, and an invitation to let the raw materials speak for themselves. If you thought Greta was an eco warrior, wait until you hear about these green-fingered creds.
Our friends over at Desso have worked very hard to make their floors 100% eco and recyclable, and after redesigning lines and creating new ones, they are now standing at 60% of all their products being environmentally responsible. For instance, Desso Futurity carpet tiles are made from Econyl yarn, a material produced by using discarded materials such as plastic bottles and nylon fishing nets floating around the ocean.
After years of tireless research, Desso have formed a unique collaboration with Dutch drinking water companies to upcycle chalk, and the EcoBase backing featured in Desso Futurity now contains 75% positively defined chalk, which is itself derived from 100% defined recycled materials. What does that mean? Basically all the chalk left over from making water is now hot-footing its way across to the Desso factory and being turned into carpet tile backing. Very cool.
But what does it actually look like? Desso say "its colour palette of four shades – comprising two lighter bases with darker pattern, and two darker bases with lighter pattern, reflects the raw, unpolished and unpredictable characteristics of this novel kind of nature." We say - "ooh look pretty colours!"
