Pantone's colour of the year is... 2 colours?

If you're into interior design you'll know that each year Pantone choose a colour each year to be "the colour of the year". 2020's colour was Classic Blue which was meant to resemble a certain "calmness" but I think we can all agree it captured the mood rather than calmness. 

This year Pantone have chosen two colours which I think is very fitting for 2021. Ultimate Gray and Illuminating, an "optimistic" hue of yellow, are the two shades that Pantone has named as its colours of the year for 2021.

"The selection of two independent colours highlight how different elements come together to express a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting," explained Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

I personally love these two colours together and I know a lot of brands out there do too - and do you know one of the best ways to encoorporate company colours into an office space? FLOORING. Let's take a look at some great examples of using Yellow and Grey floor fits we've completed over the past couple of years.

Our London fitters popped over to this Government building located in Central London to fit the oh so popular Interface Composure carpet tiles. These carpet tiles give the space a much needed uplift and really brightens and modernises it. Alongside the Composure carpet tiles we also fitted Heuga 727 Sunflower carpet tiles as an accent colour. Here at DCTUK we do love a bright and punchy coloured design and Sunflower is the perfect tile to take this design from "meh" to "WOO". 

We're Mclovin this fit. Our North West fitters laid approximately 125m² of Nouveau Elite Prismatic carpet tiles into the training rooms at the McDonald's Training Centre in Salford, Manchester with an small area of Nouveau Futureproof Soft Yellow. They uplifted and disposed of the existing flooring and laid our very own Nouveau tiles quicker than you can say Big Mac. The project was fitted on time and with an "Excellent" rating from Ronald Mcdonald himself.

We travelled to the land of the sheep to fit this one! Our fitting team headed to Wales to fit Desso Essence Stripe in the entrance area and Interface Composure Edge in colour Sunburst/ Seclusion to really make a small area of the room stand out! The colours compliment their brand perfectly💁‍♀️

We fitted 140m² of these jazzy Nouveau Shift carpet tiles in the offices of Space Creative, a marketing company in Bath. A creative company needs a fun, creative floor right? Nouvea Shift Sunshine definitely ticked that box. The subfloor needed a full screed which we completed before laying the carpet tiles. The customer also used our furniture moving service were we arrange for the furniture to be moved and put back in place before and after the installation process.
