Flooring for your 4-legged friends

Flooring for your 4-legged friends

Here at DCTUK, we are partial to a pet or two but as with most teams, we are divided when it comes to the great cat or dog debate. My personal stance on the whole thing is that cats rule all. Felines, in all shapes and sizes, have a sense of sassiness and wisdom that their canine counterparts could only ever wish to achieve. I mean, have you ever seen someone pull of nonchalance quite as cunningly as Grumpy Cat? Now I’m sure there are plenty of puppy-lovers out there hoping my boss gives me the boot as soon as I publish this blog post but there is one thing that promises to unite cat and dog lovers and that’s our pet-friendly flooring products so bear with me a little while longer.

Claw-resistant carpet tiles

If your house is home to a furry friend or two, then we’re here to help you out. Nope, we aren’t talking big round ears, twitching noses and long pink tails - that’s a whole other problem, buddy - we’re referring to the domesticated animals that we like to stroke to sleep and coo over endlessly. Until they malt millions of hairs over our furniture and have little accidents on the kitchen floor that is! In fact, more than 50% of UK households have a family pet, which means there must be plenty of you out there looking for a flooring solution that will keep both you and Fido, safe and happy. That’s where our innovative carpet tiles come in handy…

You might think I’m mad for even putting the words ‘pet’ and ‘carpet’ in the same sentence but in this modern day and age, modular carpet tiles mean it is entirely possible for theses two things to exist in perfect harmony. Animals can be messy, disobedient and prone to a bit of a pong - it’s the nature of the beast, literally - but unlike traditional carpet rolls, tiles can be individually replaced quickly and easily. If you find yourself dealing with some rogue doggy do-do or a stubborn paw print stain then you can simply lift any affected tile(s) up and remedy the situation at a fraction of the price. Lots of our Nouveau carpet tiles actually contain StainSafe technology, which gives you added extra defence against dirt and debris, while low pile tiles like Nouveau Urban and Heuga Entree are less likely to catch on claws.

Amongst our extensive collection of carpet tiles for the home and office, we also have a selection of products that help to reduce allergic reactions by purifying the atmosphere. Cool, right? The main contender for this is the Desso AirMaster collection, which can all be found over on the Desso page. As you will know from our recent post on controlling excess noise with carpet tiles, lots of our products also have sound-resistant properties too, which means you won’t P-off the nosey neighbours with early morning breakfast barking or the irritating sound of a hamster wheel spinning into infinity. Winner!

A vinyl luxury alternative

If you simply can’t consider living in a dimension where claws and carpet tiles come paw-in-paw, then you should skip straight to our collection of luxury vinyl tiles and planks. Our ranges of vinyl alternatives to traditional hard flooring, with realistic stone and wood finishes are the perfect way to put your mind at ease. Super easy to sweep, mop or wipe clean, vinyl flooring is a great choice for houses (or even offices) that have fuzzy-faced inhabitants (no, this doesn’t apply to Mildred on reception). Many of our LVT products also provide slip-resistant qualities so when your well-loved creatures are skidding round the kitchen, there’ll be no (or at least, less) fear of damage or injury.

So now you’ve digested our pointers on the fitting flooring for your four-legged friends, it’s time to start shopping! I’ve put a handful of my pet-friendly favourites together below but there is plenty more where that came from so if you’d like some more info on a suitable solution, feel free to get in touch with our savvy sales team and they’ll be more than happy to help.
