Desso have recently designed an exclusive carpet tile for Netherlands flag carrier airline, KLM, for it's refurbished World Business Class. Developed in parternship with well known Dutch designer Hella Jongerius, the Desso carpet will be installed onboard the aircrafts in July, starting with the 22 Boeing 747s.
Specially manufactured Wilton woven carpet is made using Norwegian wool, introducing a brand new design whilst ensuring the carpet still meets the most stringent requirements in terms of safety, longevity, and comfort. With Desso being as sustainable as they are, they have also ensured that the carpet fulfils the highest in sustainable requirements. A few months ago we wrote a blog featuring Desso's 'Take Back' program, where they collect old carpet which is then recycled as a secondary fuel and raw material in the cement industry. There's a small easter egg in there to, as the blue accents that are shown through the brown and grey carpet, has been produced by recycled uniforms from flight attendants and stewardesses.
All 110 of KLM's aircrafts will have this breakthrough carpet installed for both economy and business class.
