A buyers guide to care home flooring

So you’ve been set the mammoth task of hunting for a new flooring for a care home, but where to start?

Gone are the days where care home flooring meant one big snoozefest, it's time to add a bit of glitz, glam and most importantly... colour in the space.

As your flooring guru, we are here to break down the different types and help you choose the right product for your needs.

Carpet tiles for care homes

Carpet tiles are often found hanging out beneath your feet in care homes thanks to their never ending benefits and no-fuss personality. The carpet tile market is currently booming and are often the chosen ones when footfall is high and accidents are frequent.

These nifty little things are highly durable and not only easy to install, but they are also easy to remove and maintain. Not just a one trick pony ey? Spillages do happen, whether we are 3 years old or 93 years old some things just never change, we are only human after all. Rather than replacing the entire floor (as you would with broadloom carpet), the damaged carpet tiles can simply be removed and replaced individually. This is why we always recommend ordering an extra 10% on top of your minimum requirements for spares, better safe than sorry!

Carpet tiles are also highly suitable for wheelchair usage thanks to their slip-resistant properties due to the texture of the carpet. Carpet tiles tend to feature lower pile heights than broadloom rolls making those wheelies easier to complete.

A great cost effective option if you’re trying to get more bang for your buck without actually compromising on quality or style, check out some of the best carpet tiles that we have on offer here at DCTUK here

Sheet vinyl for care homes

Specifically designed for environments where banana-skin moments are frequent, sheet-vinyl is a great option for care home flooring thanks to its easy-clean and non-slip properties. Not only will they protect residents within the care home from any whoopsie-daisy moments requiring another hip replacement, but also colleagues and visitors from any slip, trips and falls too - the workers have got enough on their plate as it is.

Round the clock visitors and workers means care home floorings take quite the pounding, sheet vinyl is extremely hard wearing and durable enough to withstand the never ending stream of traffic. Plus, sheet vinyl is super low maintenance and requires minimal TLC - passing the effortless maintenance check with flying colours.

Adding a stylish element to your space, we’re sure you’ll discover something that either complements and elevates the existing decor or contributes to a total interior re-vamp. So for a safe but slick, chic and oh so stylish space, shop vinyl flooring at DCTUK here
