Where it all began
Modulyss is a Belgium-based company that designs and manufactures innovative and long-lasting carpet tiles specifically for the European contract market. Despite only getting its existing contemporary brand name and image in January 2010, Modulyss has been operating in the industry since 1965 when the first tuft machine in Belgium was installed.
The company started life as Goossens NV, producing tufted carpets before moving into car and grass carpets as Cabrita Carpets in the early 90s. From here the business was acquired, sold and eventually became the ever-evolving brand it is today.
The holy trinity of carpet tiles
Modulyss offers quality, flexibility and sustainability – the holy trinity of contract carpet tiles. A harmonious marriage between sustainability, style and substance is what its all about, with a particular emphasis on the commercial and contract markets. The design process is all about creating a combination of trend-savvy, innovative products and traditional, resilient solutions as the company develops its new young and dynamic image.
Solution died yarns keep colourfastness in check, while advanced backing improves sound absorption making Modulyss tiles perfect for schools, offices and universities. Certain carpet tiles also capture more dust to allow a much purer interior air and a reduction in allergic reactions, while an antistatic agent reduces the effects of, well…static (duh!)
A breath of fresh air
In October 2008, Modulyss became the first European manufacturer to bring an ecological carpet tile to market and this was the Minimum70 design. This is just one of many eco collections that the brand has developed over the past few years in its bid to become an entirely sustainable company that helps make sustainability feasible, accessible and affordable.
Modulyss aims to encourage more businesses to ‘go green’ as corporate social responsibility and environmental commitment are so pivotal to the ethos of the brand. Recycled raw materials, solvent-free backing, a rain water system and secondary fuel are all eco elements that the brand dedicates itself to with conviction.
