Get your Nature Luxe on for the festive period

The festive season is just around the corner now which is why Mother Nature must be putting on her best pearls and getting a little bit sassy. That's right, natural elements are taking a turn for the glamorous and marrying with modern metallics in a celebration of craftsmanship and style and it goes by the name of Nature Luxe.

Nature, who? Luxe, what?

Well it's basically all in the name really - Nature Luxe is all about adding luxury and opulence to the stripped back, stunning elements the natural world has to offer. You know we're all for biophilia and bringing the great outdoors indoors but with Christmas and New Year coming up, you've got to sprinkle a bit of glamour around too haven't you?

It's all about the finer things

While modern metallics and reflective finishes in general are all the rage right now, this particular interior design trend is all about looking a little bit closer and appreciating the finer details of craftsmanship and embellishment.

I'm talking intricate needlework that looks like it would take 5 pairs of hands to execute, braided textiles, knitted and woven fabrics that scream cosy nights in by the fire, and accent features that provide that missing piece to the puzzle of pizzazz. Hides and fur are also a pretty big deal - faux, of course!

It's not all about tricky textile techniques though - you can add a touch of reckless abandon to this interior trend too. Frayed finishes, raw edges, burnt effects, worn surfaces and tactical tearing are all part and parcel of Nature Luxe and I, for one am loving it right now.

Picking out the perfect palette

In terms of colour and tone, air on the side of caution and stick to the more subtle end of the spectrum for your base shades. Obviously when it comes to throwing coppers, bronzes, golds and silvers into the mix, you can afford to be a little more liberal but create your initial canvas with modest shades like taupe, blush, grey, beige and mushroom.

The overall vibe is somewhat grungy despite being equally fresh so don't be afraid to experiment with industrial elements like flecks of black here and there, iron metalwork and even some marble seeing as it's the material of the minute.
