Lots of you landing on this page will be contractors, designers and architects all well-versed in the ins and outs of carpet tiles and modular flooring. You'll be no stranger to piles (of the fabric kind hopefully) and you'll probably know more about tile backing than your partner's favourite food.
However there will also be some of you who know very little about which way to turn when it comes to shopping for floorcoverings and this one's for you! So to those of you who are feeling more confused than a chameleon in a bag of Smarties right now - welcome!
Where are the carpet tiles going?
The very first thing you'll need to establish is where exactly the carpet tiles are going to be installed. More often than not, you'll already know this information before you start shopping but it's essential that you nail this vital bit of info down before you get cracking.
Picking the perfect carpet tile isn't all about ooh-ing and ah-ing over fancy colours and patterns - that bit comes later. Right now you need to narrow your selection down to a certain type of tile that is designed specifically for the area you're kitting out, whether it's a whacking great commercial office or a teeny tiny domestic utility room.
What will they have to contend with?
Once you've got this information to hand, you then need to think more in depth about what the tile is going to have to deal with on a daily basis and the specification requirements you'll need to look out for to match up to this.
